For over 70 years, the Cartmill family has been a pillar of the Sault Ste. Marie community, creating some of the oldest Monuments and providing thoughtful and compassionate service to families honouring their loved ones. Our story began in 1953 when Raymond Cartmill, a WWII veteran, founded Lock City Monuments Ltd. His dedication to quality and service laid the groundwork for our business, building a reputation of trust, one family at a time.

In 1988, Raymond’s son, David Cartmill, took over and grew the company into a legacy of craftsmanship and care. He expanded our offerings and refined our processes, always with a personal touch. Today, David’s son, Craig Cartmill, proudly continues this family tradition, ensuring every monument is a lasting testament to the life it represents.

- We are honoured to have collaborated with Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 by donating a plaque for a Vimy Ridge oak sapling at Greenwood Cemetery.
- We have proudly donated our time and services to create and install engraved pavers at the Ermatinger Clergue National Historic Site.
- In 2023, we were pleased to work alongside Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 to help commemorate fallen soldiers from WWI and WWII, adding to the cenotaph located at the Downtown Courthouse
